About Trolling Fishing
If you’re a fisherman then you’re well aware of trolling fishing. In the simplest terms, this means baiting a hook with lures or other bait fish that a drawn through water. Most fisherman use this technique when they are fishing from a boat. To stay away from the motors as much as possible they often use the side of the boat as the location where they fish from. When used for recreational purposes there are some boats with special trolling motors that are used with special speeds to accomplish this specific fishing environment. Some fisherman term this action such as angling. There are other fishermen that stand near the shore and fish in this manner from one static location.
The whole idea is to give the lure bait a certain amount of movement to trick this fish into thinking that it is actually moving thus available for the fish to eat. There are many people who get confused with the difference between trawling and trolling. A net or trawl is drawn through the water to catch fish unlike trolling which uses fishing lines. Trawling is used specifically for commercial reasons while trolling can also be used for commercial purposes but is more often found used for recreational purposes instead.
The fish you troll for will highly depend on the outfit that you use. Some of the heavier outfits that you use can be used for catching kingfish and salmon. It also depends on he waters that you are trolling in. Some trollers that are in calmer waters and use lighter outfits can expect to catch fish such as crappie, bass and other smaller fish. The type of bait that you use will also have a distinct effect on the type of fish that you catch as well.
The depth of the outfit and bait that you are using also has a direct effect of the fish you are trying to catch when you are involved with troll fishing. Certain fish swim at certain levels of the water. Certain fish stay near the bottom of the lake while you’ll find others that stay near the top. Troll fishing is more acceptable for certain types of fish than it is for others. And you’ll have to be concerned about the type of bait that you use to catch certain fish than you do for others.
Troll fishing can be fun and exciting depending on the type of fisherman or woman that you are. In many cases it can be more successful than other types of fishing. It also gives you a chance to use your boat if that is the method that you use.
